The history of the payroll processing program, which has the town of Klatovy in its birth certificate, dates back to 1989, when local developers prepared the "dos" program MZDY. It soon became an invaluable tool for keeping personnel records and payroll accounting in all types of organisations, including contributory and budget organisations.
The MZDY program has been developed so that it can be used in companies with several thousand employees with complex payroll calculations and many different types of wages, as well as in small organizations with up to 25 employees.
Developer Ing. Vladimír Kozák recalls his pioneering days: "In the beginning everything was difficult, we spent a lot of time on development. Later on, our efforts started to bear fruit. Customers were happy with how well the program was helping them." The program and pro-customer approach have won the hearts of payroll accountants. MZDY from Klatovy has become their important assistant...
Ing. Vladimír Kozák, developer of the MZDY and AVENSIO software, describes 1979, when he started his first job after university, as the year "0" of the development of payroll processing by computer: "I was lucky to have a supervisor. He was a skilled economist with many years of experience and very willingly introduced me to the secrets of the economics of a manufacturing company. I paid him back with my knowledge of computer technology.." Gradually, they pushed payroll processing by computers outside the PVT (Computer Processing Enterprise). It was 1982 and the offices were using Ascota mechanical calculators and the first East German-made Robotron computers.. "The opening of the border after 1989 allowed us to get more powerful personal computers. We were able to start our business and implement our plans," adds Ing. Kozák, founder of payroll systems in Klatovy.
The year 2000 is here, what next?
In 1993, a limited liability company called UNICOS was established, which is an abbreviation of UNIversal Computer Services. At that time, significant legislative changes in the field of HR and remuneration took place, which required significant modifications to the MZDY program. It was then named MZDY 93 and can now process the payroll agenda in organisations with irregular working hours.. As a result, the port-folio of clients is growing substantially, as MZDY 93 is used by large hospitals, nursing homes and care services. These users from healthcare institutions are cared for by Ing. Emil Teska and Ing. Josef Hrubý (now both retired). After seven years, the programme has been renamed MZDY 2000, due to the need to assure customers that it will continue to operate reliably after the turn of the millennium. There were concerns that the two-digit year format used at the turn of the millennium might cause problems with data storage. The year 2000 went smoothly for the Klatovy payroll and what next?
The arrival of Windows and AVENSIO
With the advent of the Windows operating system, there was a growing need to offer a new payroll and HR software running on this platform. However, the senior partners of UNICOS decided not to develop a Windows program and to no longer support the DOS-based payroll 2000 and to discontinue the company's activities. The idea that the payroll program in Klatovy will completely end and the existing users will be left without help, the younger partner Ing. Kozák did not like it at all. "I couldn't imagine that my years of experience in payroll processing would go untapped," comments on this period and continues, "The trust of the users and the relationships we have built were also important to me." Together with his colleagues he joined forces and in a very short time they put into operation a payroll program running on the Windows operating system and named it AVENSIO Software.
The name AVENSIO was created by combining the Spanish words "avenencia" and "salario", both of which translated into English mean "wages". It is 2009 and AVENSIO is offered to existing users of the MZDY program and the sales of the "Windows" software and customer support begins to operate under the wings of Alfa Software, s.r.o., which until then had been dedicated exclusively to the development of the time and attendance system. Thanks to the trust built up over the years in the software developer, almost all existing clients switched to AVENSIO. The transition was not easy in many cases and was a difficult step for all involved. However, it soon became clear that the program and its development were moving in the right direction. The service support of MZDY 2000 will finally end on 31 December 2011, when the last swallows will change their operating system and switch to AVENSIO.
The Alfa Software brand has a good reputation not only among customers
During the next 15 years Alfa Software has been working on building a good reputation and gradually gaining the favour of more than 2000 clients from all over the Czech Republic with its pro-customer approach. AVENSIO is a universal payroll program, which, however, respects indi-vidual needs. That is why it is appreciated by both state organizations and companies of various fields of activity and especially by educational institutions, hospitals and social service providers. The system is reliable and the results of inspections by health insurance companies, the Financial Administration and the Social Security Administration are without faults and usually end with praise for the program and its operators.
Always a little more...
AVENSIA processes 330,000 payroll tickets every month. The program is popular for its intuitive operation and provides an overview at every stage of payroll processing, which is appreciated by accountants and HR managers. The system monitors legislation, generates data for statistical reports, allocates costs according to any criteria and sends all mandatory reports. In addition to the payroll software, Alfa Software also offers solutions for employee attendance and access to facilities, a catering system and a web application to facilitate communication between employee and employer. In addition to superior customer support, it also has a sophisticated training system. It prepares practical guides, technical articles and sends tips for users to use the payroll and attendance software more effectively. It organises regular training sessions on the programmes and conferences focused on legislative innovations in the field of payroll accounting and HR. The conferences are intended for the general professional public, not only AVENSIO users, and are held online and in person. Thanks to the professionalism of the lecturers, sophisticated organization and that extra piece of the proverbial cake in the form of perfect care for the participants and the accompanying program, the popularity of the conferences continues to grow.
Alfa part of RSM CZ
In 2023, RSM expressed interest in the Klatovy family company and on 30 October 2023 Alfa Software became part of the group RSM CZ. The interconnection brings new opportunities for everyone and for Alfa it means financial security, the possibility of faster product development and the expansion of its service portfolio. At the same time, this acquisition significantly strengthens the Group's position in the payroll and time and attendance solutions market.
Ing. Vladimír Kozák continues to act as a sales representative and cooperates in the development of the attendance program. A new sales department has been created, headed by Jiří Šrámek. The former Managing Director Eva Maurerová handed over the management of the company to the new Managing Director Marta Rosová on 1 January 2024 and will remain at Alfa as a consultant for a few more months.
