Calculation of the length of leave

calculation of the length of leaveHow to calculate holiday hours? We'll show you how to calculate the length of your holiday easily.

To calculate the length of leave, you need to know the following:

  • Retrieved from allowed Staff
  • Weekly working hours employees/shorter weekly working hours employees (TPD/KTPD)
  • Number of TPD/KTPD worked

Basic area holidays are 4 weeks. For employees employers listed in § 109 (3) of the Labour Code is the basic amount of leave 5 weeks, u teaching staff it's 8 weeks.

Number of weeks worked (TPD/KTPD) is affected the duration of the employment relationship. In the case of an employment relationship that lasts beyond full calendar year, it's 52 weeks worked in terms of holiday entitlement (exceptionally, there may be more). In the case of an employment relationship that did not last for the whole calendar year is the number of weeks worked (TPD/KTPD) lower. If the length of the TPD changes during the calendar year the calculation of the length of leave is based on average weekly working time employees.

Number of whole TPD/KTPD worked includes number of hours actually worked and planned a number of hours of compensatory time (counted and counted against the limit).

The formula for calculating the length of leave is:

Amount of leave in weeks x weekly working hours/shortened weekly working hours in hours x (number of whole TPD/52 worked).

Examples of calculating the length of leave

Example 1:

An employee with a 40-hour week and a 5-week holiday entitlement will be entitled to 200 hours of holiday (assuming the employment relationship lasts for the whole calendar year).
5 x 40 x (52/52) = 200

Example 2

An employee with an agreed working week of 30 hours per week and a holiday allowance of 5 weeks will be entitled to 150 hours of holiday (assuming the employment relationship continues throughout the calendar year).
5 x 30 x (52/52) = 150

Example 3

The employee has an agreed weekly working time of 40 hours. The amount of leave is 5 weeks and his employment will last only until the end of March 2022, i.e. 12 weeks. His holiday entitlement will be 46 hours.
5 x 40 x (12/52) = 46

AVENSIO SW programme

In the programme AVENSIO SW set the basic holiday rate in the parameter No. 26 - Basic acreage - weeks.

For school organisations with non-teaching staff on 5 weeks' leave and teaching staff on 8 weeks' leave, the parameter No. 26 - Base area - weeks sets 5 weeks and for teaching posts (Main menu - Dictionaries - Functional and professional classification - Function, ISCO) in the field Weeks of holiday sets the value to 8 (number of weeks of leave). For non-teaching functions, the value 1 is set to indicate that the program should look into the parameter settings No. 26 - Basic acreage - weeks.

The employee's weekly working time/shortened weekly working time has an impact on the length of leave and can be found in AVENSIO SW under the tab Account - classification (Employee card - Employment - Account) in the field Agreed working hours.

You can see the length of the holiday in the field Claim on the tab Compensation (Employee card - Employment - Compensation) and in the field Holiday entitlement in the window Leave entitlement and balances (Employee tab - Employment - Compensation - button with three dots).
