Self-study (Act 563/2004 Coll.)

Further education of teaching staff is carried out by self-study in accordance with Act No. 563/2004 Coll., Section 24(4)(b), as amended.

For the further training referred to in paragraph 4(b), teaching staff are entitled to 12 working days' leave per school year, unless serious operational reasons prevent it. The duration of the leave shall be determined by the school principal. The period of leave shall be compensated by a salary equivalent to the amount of salary lost. If the employment relationship lasts only part of the school year, one-twelfth of the leave shall be paid for each month of employment. Where shorter working weeks than the weekly working time are agreed, the amount of leave provided for in Article 24(7) shall be reduced proportionately. Untaken leave or a pro rata part thereof shall lapse without further entitlement. For employment law purposes, leave shall be regarded as an obstacle to work on the part of the employee.

Example

The employee started work on 1 October as a teaching assistant with a three-day working schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). How many days of self-education is he entitled to?

12 days/12 months/5 days per week * 3 (number of days in the work schedule) * number of months of employment = 2 days of self-study
