Do you receive any of the four types of pensions in the Czech pension system (i.e. old-age, invalidity, widow's/widower's or orphan's pension) and you request a change in the method of payment? Then read on carefully.
Let me first remind you that Czech Social Security Administration (hereinafter referred to as "CSSA") pays pensions in advance at regular monthly intervals, namely either by wire transfer to an account the client's account (or the spouse's account) or in cash via the Czech Post. Cash payment is charged at CZK 29 for each pension instalment; the pension paid is automatically reduced by this amount. The charge does not apply to pensions granted before 1 January 2010. The CSSA also provides pension payments to social service facilities with year-round residence, provided that the recipient of the pension benefit is the pension recipient or his/her guardian and the recipient agrees to this method of payment.
So how do I apply to ČSSZ to change the way my pension is paid?
- Your pension is paid to you in cash at the post office and you want it paid into your account
Such a change of pension payment will be made by the CSSA only on the basis of the form "Application for pension payment by bank transfer to an account in the Czech Republic - account holder". The completed, signed and bank-certified form should be sent to the address of ČSSZ (Křížová 25, 225 08 Prague 5) or it can be submitted through the District Social Security Administration (hereinafter referred to as "OSSZ").
- Your pension is paid to you in cash at the post office and you want to receive it in your spouse's account
In this case, the CSSA will change the pension payment on the basis of the form "Application for pension payment by bank transfer to the spouse's account in the Czech Republic". The completed, signed and bank-certified form is sent to the address of the ČSSZ (see above) or can be submitted via the OSSZ.
- Your pension is paid into your account and you want to collect it in cash from the post office
Cancellation of the payment of the pension on account and its cash payment through the post must be requested in writing to the CSSA, either in the form of a handwritten letter in which you state your birth number and exact address of your permanent residence, or via the form "Application for cancellation of pension payment by bank transfer".
- Your pension is paid into your bank account and you want to send it to another account
To request that your pension be sent to another account (another bank), use the form "Application for pension payment by bank transfer to an account in the Czech Republic - account holder" or "Application for pension payment by bank transfer to the spouse's account in the Czech Republic". The completed, signed and bank-certified form is sent to the address of the ČSSZ or can be submitted through the OSSZ.
All the above forms are also available on website of the Czech Social Security Agency and its workplaces (OSSZ).
For all changes to the method of payment, it shall normally be made from the second, but not later than the third, pay month following the date of receipt of the request.
